Path Beyond Us

Dedicated to a special couple. He lost his legs while serving in battle a few years back.
This poem I wrote to honor and bless their reunion, through his eyes.

Would you like to take a walk with me?
Let's begin now I will guide.
Your welcome to stroll beside me-
In light our heart's confide.

Let us walk the distance of my mind.
The scenery is sure friend to entice.
Shall we step into my soul's shelter?
The view from there, so nice!

Let's share our lives, our hopes, our fears!
This emotional path forged from my pain.
My memory walks me here from time to time-
Yes, from this pathway, strength is my gain.

I've planted oaks and flowers for you and I.
I've found our smiles and laughter upon the breeze.
Friends and loved ones stop to visit.
We are left still....with many keys.....

Keys to our lives instantly changed!
No, twas not of my design.
My legs no longer a part of my body.
Yet, my Spirit still walks fine.

My lungs, my heart, my mind, my soul-
All remind me that  it is true.
I am walking upon a deeper path-
In depth of vision lies my view!

Thank you sweet friend, for walking here with me.
If you would like, I will lead you back again.
...Or would you prefer to roam awhile....
As on such a path you nor I have been?

Just let me know friend and I will help you-
Place your footprints in my life's sand.
I may walk now without a trace-
Yet, still I can hold your hand.

So, let us warm together in the sunlight.
Let us bask in this wisdom from above!
For we are a family especially blessed-
To walk together beyond our love!

So many wounded soldiers have spouses that leave them unfortunately,

God bless those that find the love and strength to go on...

looking for a place beyond and above their love.
