Perfect Imperfections

Perfect Imperfections

It is you, flourishing like a dandelion.
A damaged stem, but I still run through the grassy plains to pick you.
Looking past the destruction just to make you mines.
Tucking you in between the helix of my ear to protrude.

You are my favorite everything, the bitter, the sweet, the ache.
My favorite dream, lie, mistakes.
Any that you ever made, I stand to your side like a statue.
With liberty but this is my decision to stand here and back you.

If you left me with a ball of you, better yet just the thought of you, I’d be appreciative
Even you as an imperfect creation, I’ll still mold you into you.
Because I love you, and I wouldn’t want you any other way.
Except for the way God made you.

Never feel like you’re nothing to me, because you’re my whole Saturn.
You provide me trees for oxygen, water for hydration and food for nutrition.
Well maybe none of that but because it’s you, nothing else matters.
Because you’re exactly what I love so no need for critics.

You’re imperfect to me but you’re perfect to me.
I’m vulnerable and soft for you so it’s easy to hurt me.
Your eyes light up like the sun but the devil loves fire
But if you were satan, then aye my feelings ain’t changing?

I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
You got me like an alligator refusing to release its prey.
You’re my perfect imperfection, my shining star
If I had to choose to love you, I’d love you everyday.

I like the title best of all. It's not easy to find a person to accept you for who you are, the entire "you" not just a bulleted list of things you are good at, or what you are not good at. Love can be everlasting and truly accepting, once you find that perfect someone, to love all of you. Great poem. At first, I thought it was about a mirror image, like you were talking to yourself in the mirror, a pep talk. But after a second read, I could feel the love illuminating within the spaces of the poem.
