PERISHED DREAMS

PERISHED DREAMS

The promises we made
Kisses we shared
The months and years
In the thin air, evaporates

Our hopes and dreams
Whose voices once screamed
Now muted by unbelief
And crippled by this new reality

The sparkle in your eyes
Your laughter and smiles
Hearts that once unite
Seems to perish in the night

Our talks and walks
Our late night thoughts
The future we once saw
Has been eaten alive
And only the lies have survived

Perished is the love
We once thought was ordained
From above
And the you and me
That started our journey into eternity.

Wilford Barker.

"Our hopes and dreams

And crippled by this new reality "

This stood out to me and hit very close to home , its never easy after being so invested being a part of lost love.
"And only the lies have survived" the very variable that kills a relationship and separates is the only variable that forever lives on....... Strong lines here Barker !

Maturity... spells Robert Grove.
From reading your poems, I have come to learn a lot about the man called Rob.
You are never afraid to say what's on your mind and in your heart my friend...
Something we have in common. But in my many years of experience as far as relationships goes ( Take it for what it's worth.) I have come to realize.. that..
"That brutal strength " you have.. called Honesty.. can be  manipulated and used against you in relationships.. it hurts like hell to know that you are being real with others and your kindness, honesty and love for what's right.. is trampled in the dirt.
Neverless.. as much as you would like to  deviate from that path, you find it very difficult to change from being the You that brings substance  stability and soundness to your relationship. Hey!! Just leave it in the hands of The Almighty.. At the right time.. in the right season.. the right one will show up... and embrace the You that would complete that Special person.
Keep loving you.. Big Rob.

WELL SAID , I just had flashbacks and phrases like " brutal honesty " are coming to the surface , when you spend a good portion of your life being dishonest to yourself and finally find the strength to be honest the last thing you want to do is fall back down that rabbit hole because a relapse will be far worse then the heartbreak or lost love..... you called my card perfectly...... it's actually quite scary but also comforting ..... I have noticed through your work as well we shared a common denominator when it came to our pain from heartbreak. Like you wrote the lies will forever exist, I know that to be true because I have gotten over failed relationships , I have moved on but the words or deceit that was the death of them still haunts me sometimes because we must remember our flaws in order to not relive them ...... superb poetry Barker and I greatly appreciate your response..... Your friend and fellow poet ~Rob :) 👊

A helping hand.. is like a breath of fresh air.. hungry lungs welcomes it.
It's our duty.. to be of assistance to our fellow man.
