to be reborn and rise from the depths of the sea

she emerges like Venus, goddess of love and beauty

sensually from a gilded scalloped shell she stepped

trying to shield her heart with sadness she wept

a Phoenix within her yearning to take flight

she cowers in her shadow out of sight

determined she’ll mend her broken heart

she will take flight and journey to a new start
