Poem -

pick me up

pick me up

Drunken me with your poison,
Make me run for my life.
Use my fears against me
Stab me with my own knife
Watch me bleed till I die.
It’s too late now
Look at what you’ve done.
What are you really made off?
Taught I’ll be an easy catch.
Watch me as I walk away.
I know your game
I don’t need your fire to keep me warm
I am my own flame
My soul isn’t yours to claim

If our own souls are not ours to claim then to whom do they belong?
I guess it all depends on where your allegiances lie–with the darkness or with light.
I myself much prefer the darkness. It's cooler in the shadows, there are far fewer people to get in your way, and you get to where you're trying to go much faster.
Nice ink, Sarah,
