Plastic in our oceansΒ
And plastic in our seas
Itβs taken over all our lives;
Itβs plastic - unleashed:
Plastic for our coffee cups
Also for our teas!Β
Plastic in our mobile phones
And plastic made TVs.
Food wrapped in plastic
And toilet rolls too!
DIY packed in it
And in takeaways for you! Β Β Β Β Β Β
Plastic for our shower trays
Also for our baths
Plastic made sinks -Β
They don't do it by halves!
Plastic in our cars
Plastic in our trains
Probably, even plastic
Β Β for pipes of smelly drains!
Plastic pegs to hang our washing
Β In trainers and our shoes.
Plastic pots and plastic bottles
Β Β for garden plants and booze.
Plastic waste in our countryside
In rivers and in trees,
Caught up in the beaks of birds,
And in fishes in the seas.
Choking plastic everywhere
Β Β with nowhere else to go,
But shipped off to a foreign landΒ
Β Β To start again, the flow!

I am literally watching a programme on the tv exactly about this very problem! it's shocking what we are doing-in fact for marine life it is catastrophic! Thank you for highlighting this so well- nice work!

I love the birds and marine life and am an animal lover - I find this so very sickening - it's getting so bad, that it's going to become almost impossible to clear it all up! Feel so sorry for all the creatures that have become tangled up in the mess!

Excellent write Lynda, I wrote a piece a while ago ( I think it's on my second page ) called message in the bottles. Like Lodi I also watched the programme. Things have got to change.

Thanks for your comment. I will look at your write, as have not seen it, and it is important to address this plague - it's become such a huge problem and it needs some drastic action, otherwise I don't know whether they can turn this around any time soon! Plastic is just everywhere you look - so sad!

Another programme a couple of weeks ago was about turning plastic waste into fuel. Turn it into a commodity and see how quickly they dredge it from the oceans.
You are quite right on that one - it would be great if it became a reality - it would be like gold mining!!!!!!! Quite soon there would be no plastic left!

It's very sad...
There's been a time that I enjoyed the Ocean so much...
Having to put shoes on so my feet didn't get cut from all the broken glass and yes there was plastic all over too...
I remember a few years before my Mom died she requested I take her to the Beach and I drove for a long time trying to find a nice place for her to sit and go in the water...
She thought I was just driving around and she got upset with me, she wasn't able to see what I could see...
I told her that I have been trying to find a Beach she said Oh My God you passed a bunch!
I stopped and she got out of the car and she began to cry...
She said what's all this?
There's no where to walk...
Though there were trash cans all around, it never makes any sense to me...
If there wasn't any trash cans grab your stuff and throw it away when you get home...
How hard is that?
I explained that I tried to find a good spot...
βββββAll she said after about 5 minutes was Oh my God let's go take me home...
I never went to the Beach again...
She died about 4 years later...
Every time I see these images it hard to believe that people actually want it this way...

As we are well aware there's so much more besides plastic and glass but, it would be a lot better if everyone took care...

Thank you for your lovely words - I am so sorry about your Mom, and that you tried so hard to find her a nice beach to walk on, but this was almost impossible - it made me cry. Like you, I remember going to the beach as a child and having to put shoes on as Β there was glass everywhere, and you were frightened of cutting your feet. But if nothing is done soon about the plastic, it will keep multiplying, and will be almost impossible to address!Β

It is a big worry, and it keeps piling up everywhere - don't know where it's all going to end! There is more being manufactured than recyled.
