Dear Mom,
Society has abandoned me; Justice is unjust
Entered my plea; a waiting game; system I can't trust
Staring at these four cold walls; how did life come to this?
Reflection is my pass time; family I miss
The beast; it devoured me; my life turned to sin
Mom you couldn't save me; only I could fight and win
Your life moves on without me; locked in here I stay
wish I could turn back time; to a warm and sunny day
Those times we shared together were memorable and fun
But I am scared because my time has only JUST begun
DEAR SON,
I'll never abandon you; justice will be done
Serve your time; stay in line; You CAN do it my Son!
A caged animal; a number; no longer are you free
WHY did no one listen? Protect this child for me?
Strength and determination; Your finding everyday
Fighting your own battles; to the beasts dismay
I've seen you grow up quickly; God has shone his light.
The road which you are taking; looks positive and bright
We'll share our lives together; just need to hold on
Today's the first day of the rest of your life! Son,
Keep fighting; don't ever give in.
Be Strong; be wise; be smart
I'm PROUD of you; I know you'll win...

This is a great write Maddison, you touched every part of my heart with this poem. I loved the two perspectives that the emotion and view came from with the Mother responding to her son. A very clever and heartfelt piece. A very big 5*s hun, well deserved:)
