Poetry

Poetry materialised from the moment
that sadness swallowed me whole;
from the time I looked out on a summers day,
with eyes that cannot forget winter.
The words that flow from my pen
are saturated in pain;
a beautiful pain that allows me to
undress my soul of its flesh.
Each morning I awake with new wounds
made from shards of my broken dreams,
and despite my smile, my eyes cannot lie;
for I smell the sadness like
the earthy perfume after a storm.
My words will take me further than
the realms of this world and beyond;
for on moonless evenings,
the stars shed tears to hear
the poems carried on the breath of night.
But, still I do not devastate my heart with tears
but with love.
It is not that I cannot fly,
it’s just that I fly in the dark.

Really lovely, the poetry I write and mostly follow is rhyme, but every now and then
I read a more free style, that reminds me not to be so closed minded, this is one of those poems.

Thank you

John

Thank you so much for your very kind comment John.
Actually, I do write in both rhyme and a more ´free style´.
I enjoy both styles but, I guess I write much more in the free style as I feel it gives me more freedom of expression. Although, I sometimes relish in the challenge of managing to cram in as much expression as possible, whilst at the same time making it rhyme.
Kind regards
Caron
