Pointing Fingers

They are constantly looking for someone to blame
A mad dash to slander someone's name
It's sickening getting poked in the eye with pointing fingers
Life's not always a race, there's not always a winner
Most things reside along a gray line
Black and white doesn't do reality justice
They are trying here to make a divide
Everything they do is to control us 
And we blame each other for every little thing
Our minds a wrapped up in what other people think
But if we don't stop pointing and do a back stroke
We will drown and slowly sink
Why can't we make our lives better?
Without blaming someone else for our misfortune 
It seems the way we view the world
Has grown unfocused and out of proportion 
There are things that do set us apart
But far more that we have in common and share
This should not be a rival family solution
We are all human, need the same things like food , water and air
We can't come together when we segregate ourselves
We can't be United States when it's red versus blue
We can't build a better future
When you're worried the religion of the guy standing next to you
It seems it should be easy
I don't care what others think
But that's starting to change
When they demand I don't speak
It hurts me that we are not where we need to be 
One nation divided
And how little it would take 
To be a nation united
It's both sides that point the fingers
It's a nation of sheep
Following blindly
Who don't even think
It should be we the people
Not white,black or whatever god you follow
Turn the fingers on your self
And don't be so shallow 
We are all different yes it's true
But we're human, American 
And all in search of the dream
Let's put down the pitchforks and act as a team
