Poisoned From Within

Poisoned From Within

Envy whispers in my ear
Hate tries to change my heart
Anger clouds my mindβ€” and fear
Fear drives me and my friends apart

Envy whispers in my ear
Envy bright and green
Tells me others are better
Watch them prance and preen

Hate tries to change my heart
It squirms and wriggles in
Like a worm in an apple
Poisoned from within

Envy whispers in my ear
Hate tries to change my heart
Anger clouds my mindβ€” and fear
Fear drives me and my friends apart

Anger clouds my mind
It makes it hard to think
Then bam! I realize what I’ve done
My actions I rethink

Fear drives me and my friends apart
It drives a wedge in deep
Do I belong? Will I fit in?
I have to look before I leap

While envy whispers in my ear
While hate and anger change me
I can be hard to hold the hope
And to not let fear drive me
