Power Scales (Where has it gone)
Pun intended. - No. 12

It seems like we feed of others,
We always laugh when we do them wrong,
We say we're sorry but we`re not.
But really, where has it gone?
Why does your weakness give me strength?
Why does your choking give me breath?
Why does your loss, allow me to cope?
Why does it cost, so much hope?
When the word sorry is valueless.
When we are trying our best – to impress.
When we say and look fine.
When we think to ourselves,
“We are out of time.”
Sitting on a scale of power,
It tips on way, then the other.
What weighs more the knife or the flower?
Why does such a question taste so sour?
Will there ever be a time when scales don’t matter?
When showers of peace and the latter.
Will, there ever be a space,
When we're just not in each other’s face?
I hate the game.
I play anyway.
I give, I take.
I waste away.
Scales tip, worlds change.
The Fish of the Sea.

Fab write, yes life can be a game we are forced to.play, Mr Fish. We are not a nice species, we could learn a lot from our animal friends I think but...hey, we are too intelligent and enlightened for that!! ?
Ha! So true Marion, one thing good out of this horrible pandemic is that its actually made some of us slow down and reflect on such things... again great point. Thanks so much for going to the effort to comment, it really means so much. All the best and kind regards. The Fish of the Sea
interesting poem Linda
Hi Fish... This just drives home the point that in reality the human species is not a very nice one. We take over a world that is not rightly ours to take... Our world is home to many species and it is as much their world as it is ours. Humans, on the whole, are self centred and far to egotistical for their own good. At the end of the day we are, as a species, constantly fighting for our survival (whether we, deserve to or not). Our primal instinct is to hunt and fight and so I guess it is in our nature to root out prey and kill it. I wish that with all our intelligence, we could realise that kindness is NOT a weakness. A fab poetical write from a wonderful observer of life. Thank you for sharing your lovely poetry with us x
