Promise

Promise

Made this promise on a highway where our journey had begun,
we fueled on all the music, every song we'd ever sung.
Refused to sit in silence counting all the miles we'd done,
traveled on a promise under California's sun.

Open road lay desolate, felt the season in the air,
the hands of time breezed with us, never left a moment spare.
settled in on different ground that brought a summer glow,
left the cold that showered down an endless winter snow.

dawn brought the change in quickly as we wished away the past,
knowing we were destined for a beautiful forecast.
No longer we'd sit void in silence getting way of track,
that promise through a journey would ensure we won't turn back.

Going in one direction settling on what had begun,
living in the moment thinking about all the things we'd done.
Searched for that horizon we were travelers on the run,
Our engine ran on a promise down on Highway 91.
