Purpose
I'm deeply saddened, knowing are relationship will falter
Facing the fact you'll no longer want to kiss your father
I've known it will eventually happen for a while now
But thinking about it turns my smile upside down
I act like I can't be fazed , it's because I stay strong for you
But the absolute truth is your the motivation behind everything I do
My little boy is becoming a little man
And it's hard to watch you cross the street without holding your hand
I'm glad that every other week I get you back
Because my boy I don't think my heart could take any longer than that
I've come this far without letting life keep us apart
And I promise you it will never start
So even though it seems like the fabric of reality is against us
I will always be here for you , you've given a broken man a purpose
I am an artist and I am a creator but you are the star
You are the best thing I ever made by far
I'm just living in fear of the day you'll outgrow me
Hopefully you've always got room in your future for your daddy

Hello Luke...
Somewhere in a child's life they think it's not cool to kiss their Mom or Dad...
As babies we need to take full of advantage of giving much Hugs and kisses...
Once they become a big kid it all changes...
When my kids reached that age I asked them if I could give them one or if they would give me one...
My children are grown and they still reach out and give me one...
Now, I have been blessed with a Granddaughter and she hasn't reached that age yet, and I know it's coming...
I will always ask for one...
Boys need to learn the meaning of a firm handshake...
Explain they're never to old to give their old Dad a hug and a kiss...
To them we are always old until, they see us as not that told to now, we're ancient...

Job well done in this personal and such close, reassurance of/in the love, between a father and his son...life to live, (for all), reaches it's finality, at one point in our lives but parental love for your child, has no boundaries and remains, eminently forever.... Hi Luke. This pulls at my heartstrings. We have all girls but as part of growing up, when they begin to stretch the rubberband and need us less for awhile, it's hard. Rest assured, I've been told it's all part of them growing up to become independent. So happy to hear of your love for and commitment to your son. Great vulnerability in this piece!*!*!
