Queen of Hearts

Queen of Hearts

There was a queen who liked to bake
Her cakes were the best in the land
She'd go to many parties
That her family had planned.
Ever the shadow in the corner
She would always be overlooked.
Although she was beautiful
Her head was always stuck in a book.
She'd read and read for hours
It was her way to escape.
I guess she found that freedom
That nobody could ever take.
For once something that was hers
Although cloudy, her thoughts were fair.
She'd always hope for peace and that love would find her somewhere.
Anywhere but where she was
She was not ungrateful, only because
She had set her sights on a dream
She was convinced would come true
And love would beam
In her eyes as she gazed at her king
Every girl has their eyes on the rook
But they didn't realise
He was nothing more than a crook.
All of the lies told about the king
We're certainly not at all true
For he was very tall and handsome
And would do anything for you.
The rook had the whole world fooled
Who had never seen the king.
But the queen shrugged it off as she realised
It's was probably just a jealousy thing.
There was no condemnation on both sides
For no true harm was done.
In the end it was all just a game of chess,
By the white side (the right side) would it always be won.
