Rapunzel’s, Rapunzel’s

As I was reading Friday’s paper, I saw two hundred photos there;

Of girls all dressed in formals, and guys in tuxes flair!

They were the students that were graduating, from our local high school class;

I started looking over them, especially every lass!

I was amazed to see that most of them; had long and flowing tress;

It was longer than their photos; it reached well beneath their dress!

They made me wish I was younger, and I was in their graduation class too;

Because mine was over fifty years ago, and the girls all had short and ugly do’s!

A perm, a clip, or a poodle cut, was the style of our day;

I, who loved long hair so much, would look at them and say!

“When will I ever meet my dear “Rapunzel”, with hair that so long flows?”

“That I can give my lonely heart to, and watch it ever grow?”
