Realisation

Realisation

I arrived home one day, and sat in my favourite chair,
I looked around and wondered, why nobody was there,
Everything was kind of strange, I thought I was asleep,
I thought about the driving rain, and about the sleet.

I went outside and saw the ball, and went to pick it up,
And throw the ball for my dog, like when he was a pup,
But as I reached to grab the ball, my hand just passed on through,
I found it odd I could do that task, like anyone could do.

Before I knew, I was taken away to a morbid place,
I saw my wife and daughter crying, tears running down their face,
They were looking at a tombstone, must be someone we know,
Then the service was finished, and people started to go.

I tried to offer comfort, but it just fell on deaf ears,
I thought about the ball out back, realising all my fears,
Then it suddenly dawned on me, it hit me like a flash,
Took a closer look at the tombstone, I dont think I survived that crash.
