Remnants

Remnants

In this field in which I reign
O'er rows of gilded grain
Stoic upon a crucified throne
Husk enshrined dry as bone
Β
Once aligned plotted rows
Weeds on it amply grows
God endowed bumpkin shave
Gone to seed a humble grave
Β
Toil expiry a calloused hand
Sown on a relentless land
Omitted here remnants when
Life was unyielding back then
Β
Generations now forgot
All ones pride surely sought
A house a senescent shell
Only bygone shadows dwell
