Remnants

Remnants

In this field in which I reign
O'er rows of gilded grain
Stoic upon a crucified throne
Husk enshrined dry as bone
Β
Once aligned, plotted rows
Weed on it amply grows
God endowed bumpkin shave
Gone to seed a humble grave
Β
Toil expired, calloused hand
Sown on relentless land
Omitted here remnants when
Life was unyielding back then
Β
Generations now forgot
All ones pride surely sought
Inane house, senescent shell
Only bygone shadows dwell

Metaphorically sublime! Filled with nostalgia and despair, a marvelous delight to read and breathe in!

When attacked by said bug, I attack back. Writing of the anguish and frustration such a bug bite causes.
