Remnants

In this field in which I reign
O'er rows of gilded grain
Stoic upon crucified throne
Husk enshrined dry as bone
Β
Once aligned plotted row
Weeds on it amply grow
God endowed bumpkin shave
Gone to seed humble grave
Β
Toil expiry calloused hand
Sown on relentless land
Omitted here remnants when
Life was unyielding back then
Β
Generations now forgot
All ones pride surely sought
Inane house, senescent shell
Only bygone shadows dwell
