RESTLESS

I find that I am restless
It's painfully hard to be still
I can't sit and rest when things need done
I can't cease from work, until
I've always been driven to stay busy
Always thinking two steps ahead
I can't stay in a state of motionlessness
Or my mind gets filled with dread
I thought staying busy was a good thing
Being focused and getting things done
But when you can't be still and learn to rest
It catches up with you in the long run
Always jumping, moving, doing
Completing the next thing on the list
Always driven to be busy
Was there something that I missed?
I became my own slave driver
Always cracking at the whip
Everything is kept in it's place
I run a real tight ship
I tried to live up to your expectations
I tried to earn your love
But nothing I did was good enough
I was made an example of
Still trying to be good enough
Still fighting for acceptance and love
Still driven to please you
You were the driving force, I became aware of
