Return To Me

Return To Me

Who lurks in the shadows
When we walk alone
And who can we trust then
When there's nothing left to gather
From the dust that is our bones

The fog is thickening
As night creeps upon the dawn
I cry out your name
But no one's listening
My child, where have you gone

You never said when you'd be home
For without a friend, nowhere to roam
And as soon as the six bell rang
My heart sank to the beat of yours

And the darkest depths, I go with you
Into the arms of death
Through every formidable moment
Even as your soul unclasps from flesh

And your hand, I hold in mine
As you loll beside me in your bed
Where in my dreams, you are older
Till the warmth of your sheets forsake me
Upon awakening to my regret

And I see you walk the night alone
Through forests, fields and rivers you leave
Your body to haunt the road
And I will keep the front door open
Until you can find your way back home

Mother of forbearance
Come to receive
The lost children of whoredom
Crying at your feet
Save us from malevolence
The wrath with the rings
Make a path from this forest
For these monsters have soiled
And severed our wings
And in the dark, we stay
Until death, we meet again
