RIP TIDE

RIP TIDE

The soft cool sand
Beneath my feet
Revives my soles
To heal...
To treat...
Myself
My body
My soulful mind
As a sadness has brought me here
To unwind...
The ocean waves
As she beckons me
To make my way
Towards her sea
And I feel myself smiling inside
Yet my face on the surface
Has plenty to hide
The water is freezing cold
Now I'm up to my waist
Then the currents take hold...
I'm being dragged under
Terrified for my life
As I prepare for the worst
Caught in the rip tide...
Which way is up?
Which way is down?
My only thoughts now..
"I'm gonna drown.! "
Every second seems eternal
As I prepare myself for an underwater burial
She has taken my sadness
Replaced it with fear
And I suddenly realize
Why I am here..
The grand sea of emotions
Gave me this idea
To be thankful
That I have been blessed with life
A caring mother
A loving wife
Then just as I feel myself fading away
The blackness slowly turns to grey
I'm thrown back out onto the sand
People are all around where I land
But I only hear the voice of a man
His face is foggy
Then he touches my hand..
I smile at him
Ignoring all else around
For now I feel totally safe and sound
"You know my girl..you almost drowned"
This angelic being...
Was he earthbound...?

In a soothing voice he then whispers to me...
"Welcome back angel..."
"I love you Carey...."
