The Road Must End

The Road Must End

The old dirt path to the one room school house

The horse and buggy ride to the general store in town

Where the wind takes me I shall find my path to the mill

Where the wheat and flour will provide the bread on my table

And I shall not butter each side, only one side shall be rich

The other shall be dry, as I know the road must end

One day, it will meet with the sky, into the blue dusty heavens

It will sing with the saints and the angels will play their flutes

And I will be carried out to the greenest of pastures, and I will be known

As the one who lived life to the very fullest, and with pleasure I come home

My journey has met its match, and I shall not suffer, but a life everlasting

With my new begin
