Rolling Time

Time

Time rolls on

Roll back
The seconds
The minutes
The hours

Roll back
The days
The weeks
The months

Roll back
The years

Time does not roll
Like a clock's hands,   circling
     It moves forward

Although human history has
     In its progress
Rolled around
And around

Repeating
The same moments-
     Different day

However
          Time rolls on
Like each new and different day

They say people change with the time
But really, people change all the time
And will change time and time again
          Either for better
Or for worse

And wisdom has shown me

Not striving for better
May eventually
Lead to worse. . .

As time rolls on
