Roses for Elise

You favored florals, on a canopy bed,
But wires, electrodes and IV's cover instead.
You sang so sweet such random little things,
I recall, βA bell chimes, as angels earn wings"
I miss laughter that filled this empty hall,
Now gloom consumes, dreading urgent call.
Chemo deviated rapid along rail-thin arms,
Overwhelmed with bleeps and unlit alarms.
Caressing pale cheek, I stroke shiny head,
You cried so hard when golden curls shed.
You use to chase butterfly-kissed dreams,
Within a coma, I imagine delirious screams.
You once asked, "Mommy, why does it hurt?"
I tried to gentle emotions so it wouldn't be curt.
"Treatments bring vigor just a bit closer to you,
Felling disease, so hope shines through"
A funeral was lovely, filled with fragrant flowers
I accepted condolences what seemed like many hours.
But now mourners left me, I'm finally all alone,
Sounds of silence sharp cuts to very bone.
Heard a distant bell hallow as it rings,
My delicate angel, earned her wings.
On polished stone, words I especially chose,
And on little grave, I bestow a bouquet of rose.

Hi DARKLY!!....this is a VERY compelling piece my friend....I LOVE the picture and the title you chose to accompany this VERY well crafted poem....and the A,A,B,B rhyme scheme works beautifully for this subject matter......makes me wonder why you chose "Freestyle" as your genre heading?......regardless, it so cool to see you on the pages again.....miss you my friend.....ALL STARS & PINNED!!......powerfulΒ phrasingΒ throughout!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xoΒ : )
I thank you for stopping by I chose freestyle because it isn't counted out exactly. I choose freestyle when I don't adhere to the rules of poetry formats
Beautiful work PD as always!
