Same Slave Different Platform

I am a United States sailor. I will support and defend the constitution. Even though it doesn’t support and defend me. I am a black man in the U S of A so true. Same country that didn’t allow my ancestor to read while being enslaved by white who beat them till they were blue. Who said the flags were just colors the chose? See you have to wonder why the darker the skin the darker the punishment. It’s like a conflict of interest with me working for the government. I can’t help how I feel and let me tell you. The grass isn’t greener on the other side. I’m seeing it firsthand. Please don’t listen to me, I’m just an ordinary man. I should let go of the past and stop blaming my oppressors. Not all of live in poverty some are successful doctors and investors.  To me it’s about the effort & how we gotta work twice as hard.  We are all born the same, forget the color and the name. You bleed like I bleed, breathe the same air I breathe. Yet opportunities seem to just roll right out of your sleeve. I hope this cut deep and and will only heal with belief.

We have spent too many years looking the other way, chosing to ignore those parts of history we don't feel comfortable with..you speak your anger  eloquently and your words need to be heard, understood and allowed to make it's mark on every living heart.Maybe we can never repair the damage done...it was  so immense..... but all men of conscience should try , really try... and your words will  help to remind them of their own failings and the need to believe, truly believe that all men are one. A thoughtful and thought provoking narrative. Thank you Lodigiana x
