Seasons of You

It could be summer or winter and I would never know
Because I would still be holding your hand.
Flowers could be blooming or dying, but I wouldn't see
Because I would still be trying to define the color of your eyes.
They really are extraordinary.
We've been spending these days and nights together
And they've all become one film of you.
Your movie doesn't have words though, or subtitles,
No one needs to know what you say to me,
They just look at my face and know I'm eternally fascinated by you.
We are the stereotype and the exception and that's okay.
I would be almost anything for you.
If I could be a star hundreds of thousands of miles away,
I would be. I would shine for years if it meant that one day you could see me.
Even after I had been long gone.
Isn't that what we all want? To glow and love even after we are empty and dead?
That would make death a great deal more elegant, not that it matters
Because we have years and years to come, at least that's the plan.
If you were gone I wouldn't know if it were summer or winter
Because I would always be cold not holding your hand.
I am me, my own person, so I could survive just fine,
But I don't want to survive. I want to thrive with you.
