Sensibility

He sits in Grandpa’s chair
Pulls the lever
Rests his feet
To the hallway eyes divert
(A picture-covered wall)
Loved ones past
Keeps him enthralled
He hears a bird singing
On top of the side fence
Happiness found –
A life-long defence
Hammering in the valley
(a din of a noise)
Working weekends
Over budget and time
A room off the hallway
(TV or a dream)
Can’t focus – uncertain -Â
Not as it seems
His eyes are closed (wide awake)
Someone’s licking his face
His dog (energetic)
Asks him to play
Puts down the recliner
Stumbles to feet
Knees give way (he falls)
The floor lies beneath
Another noise heard
Son comes running to help
His wife by his side
His dog watching as well
Love – a cure-all antidote
For ills he may feel
One’s sensibility –
Emotively real
