September 24th

That night was one to remember,
I wasn’t looking for anything,
But with you things just fell into place.
I went into the night thinking I was making a new friend,
What I did not know was that I was meeting you.
The person I am going to spend the rest of my life with,
my best friend.
After spending thirty seconds with you there was this feeling,
One I’d never felt before,
One that scared me and made me smile all at once,
I wanted to curl up in your arms and never let go.
That night on the beach,
The sun at our backs, 
As we watched the stars appear above,
I felt as if I’d known you forever.
Little did I know that cold September night,
The twenty-fourth to be exact,
Was going to change my life,
Forever.
You talk about the future, 
Kids, a family, a home,
You talk about a life,
A dream I never knew I had.
I went into the night thinking nothing of it,
Until you and your nerves got us talking for hours,
Things we don’t tell people,
Things that would normally scare someone off.
But you,
You stuck around and listened and held me,
Who knew that kiss was going to blow all the others away,
Like none ever before.
Who knew something unexpected could be the best thing to ever happen.
