Setting Fires

Fallen to the ashes
An angel looks away
To a world of dreams

Enslaved by shadows
A goddess surrenders
To the hellish schemes

Holding the love
The cosmic promise
The faith that redeems

She will not let go
Of her fading hope
Though it truly seems…

That the battle is lost
That the flame has died
Extinguished by fear

That her light has fallen
Her power forgotten
To darkness sheer

But deep within
Her spirit knows
To persevere

For in her heart
The fire still
Burns crystal clear…

Ravaged with
The scars of hell
The bloodied stains

She has tried
So many times
To break the chains

She has fought
To escape from
The iron reins

But it is hard
To persevere
When evil reigns…

And even though
That darkness is
All she can see

She still believes
In the promise
To set her free

And as she looks
Beyond her fear
She dares decree

That she will rise
Unvanquished fine
Dauntless espirit…

And as she kneels
Before her soul
She closes her eyes

And sees a flame
Within the twilight
Calling her to rise

Beyond the darkness
Into the heavens
The starlit skies

Where a Kingdom
Of dreams await
To fantasise…

And she believes.

The flame ignites
Seeing her faith
Fearless divine

The fire burns
Revealing truth
Sovereign sublime

And flows into
Her dying heart
To there enshrine

A brilliant light
That no darkness
Can ever outshine…

And she awakens.

Realising that
There is much more
To faith than this

Her eyes open
To dreams long lost
To reminisce

Raising her hand
Into the mists
Of the abyss

She calls upon
The sensation
Of fiery bliss…

As the flames emerge
The shifting shadows
Flee and cower

A fire rages
In her burning form
Shining with power

Spreading afar
Her consuming blaze
Athirst to devour

Transmuting darkness
Into splendour thine
To empower…

As hope pours in
From the fountains
Of heaven’s light

As twilight fades
And darkness abates
The unending night

Dissolves complete
Into the embrace
Of beauty’s might

Answering true
The promise due
Restored aright…

And as it is finished,
As the flames die down,
She smiles, realising that
Her hell is now her heaven.
