Shades of Gloom

Shades of gloom 
growing like flowers in bloom
but with more of a dark and forbidding feel
Morphing what you think versus what is real
These mood swings are killing me internally
And even some sad enough people quite literally
why is that one second I’m happy and then one comment knocks me over
I feel like I'm playing an emotional game of red-rover

Shades of gloom distort what you see
making your spirit become not so free
not allowing you to know the wonders of the world
because deep down inside you, misery has unfurled 
rising up inside me like a dark cloud slowly creeping in
And that is when these dark thoughts begin 
thoughts that make you want to change who you are
bringing up old emotional scars

Shades of gloom turn down the brightness of the sun
Make you feel that everyone in the world thinks you're no fun
that they hate you and you should probably just go
but I overcome it by making poems that flow
so find your distraction, your hobby or vice
Everyone is different each has their own “spice”
So put down the old hurt that you're re-examining
and get out your feelings and find your special thing
