Shadow

am a shadow

I am created by light

And made of darkness

I seek the worthy

And cling like ivy

I am a shadow

I waver and fade

And grow stronger and bolder

I search for a truth

And follow you where you go

I am a shadow

I breathe in the sun

And exhale the night

I fall in line by the sun

And become myself at night

I am a shadow

I sleep inside a body

And lay trapped against the skin

I push against myself

And try to escape

I am a shadow

I will tear myself apart

And try to touch the darkest parts of who I am

I will build myself up again

And cut myself on the broken pieces

I am a shadow

I will flit and fall

And hide my face

I will mask my emotions

And add a nonchalant grin

I am a shadow

I am trapped against myself

I am a shadow

I have lost my light

I am a shadow

I wander only by the night
