Sharing Selfishly

Itβs all just words, to share what we perceive, to get validation, to look for sympathy, to demonstrate or showcase our abilities, to share a moment, to shape oneβs mind, to persuade beliefs, to confirm feelings, to vent our thoughts, to accomplish somethingβ¦
What are you writing for, is it safe to assume us poets are selfish?
Our journals or notepads donβt quench our thirst or defeat our hunger?
Like 5 Pin it 3Write for yourself, it might surprise you the difference, when you know youβre the only audience, you will learn something, it will read and sound different, it may or may not be familiar, it certainly will be more intimate, poetry isnβt all about feedback, poetry is our compass.

very true words. I think as writers we all seek validation. Great ink a pleasure to take note and ponder.
I totally agree, before poetry I shared nothing at all and bottled everything up. I then went through a stage where I shared everything, now I see the value in finding a good median.Β
You may think I'm lying but personally I don't write for validation. I write simply because it helps me with my mental health ...and that's the truth. I stupidly see cosmo as a personal private diary...everything written straight away as it comes to me...I write entirely for me...I'm wondering now if that is selfish lol...this here is a wise and searching write Rob...also pinned x
I donβt Marion and never would I think that. We have had chats about how we both tend to write directly from our thoughts or feelings with no time in between. This poem has many interpretations but you are validating the one I was trying to express the most. If we take time to really dissect ourselves, our feelings , our thoughts β¦ then wrote poetry for ourself based on those thoughts and deep thinking β¦. Could we learn something about ourself? Would it be more intimate? β¦π€
Not sure Rob...I seriously have more questions than answers these days...X
