Shirley

Shirley

The balm of my childhood, going for ice cream,
On grading day in the 59 Prefect,
We kids going along with her on her date to the drive-in,
The fights in the trunk of the car,
Before the the big SSSHHH,as we neared the entrance,
A mother,a sister,a friend,
A tidy garden "Baa's Garden,"
Lover of flowers and  carnation milk,
A perfect cup of tea,
A hard worker,an honorable soul,
A gift to the elderly she looked after ,
A mother again with her own chicks,
Her halfway house ,between home and church,
Always love there,homemade bread,lilac bushes,
A sympathic ear, sister of my mind,
I hear your thoughts, you hear mine.
