Bloodied waters churn bright red
Where โere piranhas like to feed
Roiling currents of the dead

Wretched darkness, circus freaks
Cause poor patrons ample scares
The wicked barker turns and speaks,

Carnies sleep, nary a peep
Wake to watch bone-barren trees
Outside the circus, shadows creepโ

Orchids blossom, black as pitch
death renders all thatโs sewn, unstitched
Ringmaster wrings his hands to prey
Should something evil come your wayโฆ
The hair upon your neck stands up
Thereโs something wrongโa poisoned cup
Drink it down, your body numbs

Pure carnevil, smells like slums
Decaying everything you see
Something evil, your way comes
Itโs riding Hellโs calliope.
Death takes you on a journey, rife
With carrion, devoid of life

That's very thoughtful of you to say, and I'm really glad you feel that way.
Ray Bradbury's writing had a huge influence on me as a kid, Along with Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. As I grow older I read a lot of George R.R. Martin, Stephen King (of course), Robert Bloch, who authored Psycho, and Clive Barker. Dean Koontz and Peter Straub also deserve mentioning.
The Dark Man, a free verse poem King penned while in college, peaked my interest in poetry.
Well that, and The Raven, by Poe.
Keep up the great writing and I'll keep right on reading.
