Silence

Cautiously I approach
Boldly I try to speak,
As if anything I think is good enough to say out loud
“Sorry?” they ask,
“Could you say that again?”
No
It takes enough courage to say it once
Twice?
Twice is pushing it
Twice goes through endless scrutiny,
A magnifying glass
For social situations
“What did you say?”
I don’t know
You won’t care
Nevermind
I’m not good enough to have a voice
I don’t deserve one
I’ll fade to the background instead
Silent
In the shadows
Listening
Thinking
Of all the times I said something
That I shouldn’t have been said
That shouldn’t have been thought
Because it was by me.

Hello Eli...
Welcome to Cosmo!
My Grandmother was deaf and my Mother was hard of hearing so I had to remember when I got around hearing people that they could actually hear me...
There's actually motivational speakers online who talk about the situation you wrote about...
It's pretty interesting...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...
