Sincerely Yours

A Queen' s Dilemma

Sincerely yours
The lantern was flickering
In the chilly Arthurian night
Sincerely yours
He had left her
With ought but this?
Trembling the royal handsĀ
Bejeweled and so lovely
Once worshipped by Kings
Once held for ransom
Yet she lived?
How could her heart go on beating?
How could the flame keep on burningĀ
For her one true love
Nay more than love
Her very life and breath and will
Had now forsaken her
So that she alone stood sentinel
In mourning her KingĀ
First knight he was and shall ever be
First knight to Arthur's quest
First passion to her burning lipsĀ
To the unresolved yearning in her breast
Why now would his nobel sword be
Taken from her
What good did his chivalry do now
When before God and countrymen he had been marked a betrayer of the trust?
Tears sweet with lavender ranĀ
The beautiful Queen so helpless inĀ
loves random curse
Sat with the parchment in her hand
And he wroteĀ
Sincerely yours..
