Sink or Swim

In the face of adversity
You can either sink or swim
You can lay low and hide
Or fight for what you believe in
You can say that you are heartbroken...
You can stand side by side
With those people who have hurt you
The ones that have denied
Your freedom of expression
Your right to choose your destiny
You can choose to lay low
Or fight against the "few" with the "many"
You can shout your slogans loudly
You can wave your small placard
But only if you actually believe
And don't simply discard
The fact that you are one of many
A voice in a collective
You are needed for the army
Fighting the war for the neglected
Against ridicule and abuse
By pigs in suits and "betters"
Who say that you are just a number
To be used by the setters
Of the markets and the paper
That governs all our lives
Some of us living well
More of us though, are deprived
Of basic rights and purpose
Of the chance to improve our stance
When the betters look down on you
Like your second class
The only people who can fight
Are those who have a voice
For the paper , for the right
To actually be given the choice
And for those forgotten by society
We've all got a spare hand to lend
Stay humble, we're all human
We're all the same collective dust at the end
