Smile Empty Heart

Smile Empty Heart

Please smile for me, my empty heart,
Even though I know you're in great pain;
Bruised and broken, nearly fallen apart
And at one reckless man's hands, almost slain

Stand strong, though you dwell in sorrow;
You may be able to employ no other way to cope
However, believe me, a new day comes tomorrow,
Guaranteed to bring you a small ray of hope

Cease your weeping now, my empty soul...
I regret the actions that brought about tears
Maybe they weren't mine; still, you I cajole
To forgive your abusers for those wasted years

Understanding wouldn't be hard to achieve;
Perhaps there is nothing left in you to forgive,
But for both our sakes, I must want to believe
That heart and soul united have the will to live.
