Snoring

I married a man I loved who never snored in his sleep

I like to sleep in silence but that’s a promise he could not keep

I snuggled beside the man of my dreams and then the noise, it raged

I wondered what the hell it was, the sound of an animal caged

I felt the walls vibrating and I could not stand the sound

By sleeping in the spare room, I felt I’d stood my ground

I did not see my departure as liberation to snore even more

Best of it was when questioned, husband said he didn’t snore anymore
