Soldier's Noel
Skies were ablaze Christmas night,
Bombs and gunfire lit pitch bright.
From out of the smoke, on angel wing,
A sweet melody endeavored to ring.
A baritone voice rang out crystal clear,
Even foes couldn't help but hear.
One by one gunfire hushed as he sang,
And nary missile cast a grisly bang.
Weary soldiers wiped a tear,
Enrapt by a radiant voice so dear.
All looked to the other to see who sang,
Haze cloaked a voice that rang.
Emotion clogged all to humble silence,
For a moment forgotten was all violence.
Until the final note of Silent Night,
Brave heroes refused to fight.
A miracle happened, along frontline,
All was peaceful and divine.
Then in calm skies, a star did adorn,
A reminder to all, Christ was born.
