Somewhere A Window Opens

Somewhere A Window Opens

Like the grains in an hourglass,
memories slip through into a forgotten pool.
No remnant of joy perceived, or retained.
The grains, once on an endless beach
thrashed by oceans unceasing torment,
still  warm underfoot from  lovers walking
gentle steps within each others footprints.
At the lapping waters edge,
green weeds tangle, eating through the purity
Changing the  crystal blue to lurid verdant.
Hiding the beauty that was from the obscurity that remains.
Deserted headland, promontory seeking inclusion.
Ever enveloped by the encroaching tide..
Worn away slowly, like love untended
Yet uncompromising and
seeking a lighthouse beacon
to focus on.
Cliffs, edging paradise yet ,on a precipice
awaiting the inevitable and
crashing into  a devouring  sea..
Life  and love becomes driftwood,
sailing away, out of sight ..
But in the darkness approaching,
as hope and love become confounded,
forgotten, misremembered..
Still on a clifftop, a solitary structure remains
tettering, uncertain, condemned,
Slowly, with trembling hands and a hopeful heart,
a sanguine soul, ravenous to recapture enchantment,
opens a window to look  out , with ever trusting eyes
seeking a new horizon,
far,far  beyond memory…

WOW!! LO!!... you have truly found a voice in my humble opinion.....I would be able to pick this out as yours amidst a jumbled pile of other poets work...... the amazing use of the 'perfect' words to describe the feel and images of being near the waters edge ~ " promontory seeking inclusion.." is so keenly descriptive and finely presented that the memory of lost love finding a soft place to land, where hope is alive and well, seems to float upon the lovely imagery itself!!...... you're friggin' amazing with a pen girlfriend!!....... Pinned it!!..... Had to!!......hugs-n-smiles......your friend and admirer....T xo ??✳♥? ?

Sometimes. when I write, the words  just come tumbling out and whilst their meaning is apparent to me  I  have to hope that it is to the reader also- It makes me so pleased that you seem to totally pick up on my intentions.. and that makes me absolutely silly happy!!! Being on Cosmo is such a great learning curve with so many talented writers on here  to learn from..not least of all you  Tony..thank you for the encouragement which means more that I can say!... Dean Kuch

There are a great many poets here on Cosmo who write free style/free verse poetry, Lodigiana.
But there a few who express themselves in such a raw, real and vividly enticing way as you do.
This poignant poetic proclamation portraying love and loss is certainly no exception.
Bravo...

I want to start getting out of my comfort zone and attempting to write through different genres of Poetry such as how you do through freestyle. I'm looking forward to it and am glad I have poets, such as yourself, to look up to and work off of!
