A Soul... Searching
~~My soul was searching, searching, searching.... through camps, models, pictures, and a local stable my soul was kept alive.. but not complete
Then, one day, a horse was mine! Damaged, unloved, full of spirit...and my soul was full.
Years of soul searching had come to a close that I did not know was needed in the instant he touched my hand...
willingly to be led away to a new life
Through trials and triumphs we were not parted until my soul was torn asunder
My friend, confidant, and love had to leave for the journey we all must make
Tears, many, many tears unable to stop, rolling down my face
Some were happy tears of a memory shared with others this horse also touched, most were griefÂ
losing a part of my soul that is now, again, incomplete....until....
what do I see? An eye, the soft nose, inquisitive, seeking... like me...
a heart to complete two souls...
a horse

A friend of mine recently had to put her 6 yo horse down... she also lost her 14 yo horse a year ago today. Both horses were diagnosed with issues that did not give them quality of life. I wrote this on the spur of the moment to help her through the pain...
Karina Benish, I must say, you have gained an instant fan in me with this write....it's so different how you construct a poem; on a construction site we use a 'hands on' approach in explaining certain things; that approach came to my mind in reading this poem; you explain this write so clearly, deliberately, without compromising tone or poetic integrity.... so well done; word repetition is used in such a creative story telling way....I adore the way you created this poem; unique style, unique subject....superb, very touching explanation as wellÂ

Thank you... I have never written a poem before.... and I didn't know if this would qualify... so I came to this site and put it under freestyle...
