Spring Convention

The gentle breeze whispers its warming intention
While sunshine seeps down thru the soft falling snows.
The Crocus alone, standing full at attention
Heralds the season and sings its first song.

"Come one, come all to the Spring Convention"
It smiles as it croons its most melodic song
For it knows that it's only the first bloom to mention,
The promise of harmony comes 'fore too long.

"Come one, come all to the Spring Convention"
The daffodils sing as they raise golden heads.
Their sweet-scented verse, with no thought of contention
Draws both eye and heart to their warming spring beds.

"Come one, come all to the Spring Convention"
Lilacs and violets add their song of blue.
Tulips and Iris chime in without tension,
Adding rhythm and beauty in many a hue.

Who's next to join in the Spring convention?
I smile as I stroll wrapped in fragrance of green,
and of pink, red, blue, yellow...Should I dare to mention
How lovely the song, this Convention of Spring.
