Poem -

Stained Glass

Living

is a modern

treasure

and a postmodern fantasy

The burglars

broke

into the apartment

and took the purple grand piano

but left me with six bulldozers

full of dimes

I believe in magic,

but love—

love seems a bit far-fetched

My life is blue

with little green spots

and I stay up late—

hammering nails into the backs

of old family portraits—

the bullet holes on the tops of my feet

stare up at me

in constant

disappointed amazement
