Three hundred and forty three,

Is really representative of what a number can be,

Could be the amount of yards in a football game,

Or maybe the amount of letters when you combine ever states name,

All it is there is just a number on a page,

But it really doesn't signify all the pain and rage,

Three hundred and forty three,

A number turned statistic you see,

343 lives changed in one decision,

Pulled off with near cutthroat precision,

343 families mourning in unison in one day,

343 husbands and wives taken away,

Three hundred and forty three,

represents the Saint Florian's fee,

To save countless lives from a terrible fate,

343 is the death rate,

343 firemen who ran to,

And carry out the duty they were sworn to do,

Firefighters, that's what 343 represents to me now,

and all I'm left to wonder is why and how,

How my dad and his fellow firemen can walk out the door,

How their boots can still line the firehouse floor,

But it makes sense why he runs into the fire's strife,

because he prayed to Saint Florian, protect my child and my wife,
