Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth

Just one more slice
I’ve only cut it twice
Carefully and precise
This piece should suffice
The fridge’s light guides me to paradise

I’ve learnt from the kitchen mice
Lessons valuable yet concise
Sneak at night to claim your prize
Watch out for mother’s eyes
Then search the cabinets for hidden pies

I’ll hide the cut with more frosting
Explaining to mom is too exhausting
And if cake is so bad for me
why do I feel such ecstasy?

My stomach is roaring, I need to be fed!
I need the sugar rushing to my head!
Look! Look!
I can make strawberry juice come out of my wrists!
and I bet I’d taste like cherries if we kissed!
Look! Look!
My sweet tooth is caught on a hook!
I’m sorry mom, your daughter’s a crook!

Ripples in the dark

Artwork by my wife (some 25 years old oilpainting)

Ripples in the dark

Evening quiet rules the room,
incense curling up (scenting our space)
calms me down after all...

Time is our Frenemy

Time is our Frenemy

We can learn anything we want

but there will never ever be enough time

to learn it all.
