Summer's Day

Summer's Day

I compare you to a summer's day, in May;
where I lived, it usually felt like summer,
of course, you can't always choose where you live,
I did, I was guided because I had so much to give.

Planes droning high in the sky, we don't say goodbye,
cicadas clicking at dusk, waves lap with a sigh,
your flesh is warm and tanned, lying in the sand,
all in place, as tho' someone waved a magic wand.

They did, blew the wind with stardust in your hair,
they said: 'Seize the moment, not everything is fair,'
the photograph is frozen, we would smile forever,
all was for the very best, with such good endeavour.

Nothing could compare to you on that summer's day,
the indelible memory stays and will never go away.
