Poem -

Sunrise

Nights like these I lay awake,

and pray for sleep to drown me,

in its unconscious.

But it never works.

I end up sinking into my past

and re-watching the things,

that got me to this state of mind.

Loneliness hides,

in the cavities of my soul.

It takes hostage of my heavy heart,

and captivates my lungs.

My sanity slipped through my fingers

so I sit and I try to numb myself,

as I used to.

But my mind will not stop,

my feelings demand to be felt.

On nights like these

I get to see

the sunrises.

Opening lines of the verse are very clear to convey the theme-

"Nights like these I lay awake,

and pray for sleep to drown me,

In its unconscious.

But it never works.

With Love,
