Survivor

My parents survived a collision with a car going 90 miles an hour, their car going 55.
My grandfather survived lung cancer, stage three, in full remission.
You can survive an attempted murder, an attempted suicide
I did not survive him.
My brain, newly formed and learning
Did not survive the bobcat, lurking silent awaiting another soul to devour.
A part of my brain stopped forming that day, it did not survive.
Grey matter grew around it like a cavity.
There exists a cavity in my brain that mirrors the cavity in my soul.
A piece of my soul only lived four years, it did not survive.
My body survived the bobcat
But survive does not equate alive.

Great write, love the last line in this, the sadness runs through it Hannah...?
Omg! So eloquently put! And what fantastic perspectives you have used! Oh I really admire you for writing this and the fact you have written it so damn well shows what a gift for poetry you have! (Just lifting my bottom jaw up from the floor). I have pinned this because it is awesome writing x
